The
cinematographer's camera crew includes assistants such
as:
Camera
operator
-
operates the camera, according to the directions of the
director and the cinematographer
-
is not responsible for planning the lighting or camera movements
- is
responsible for the action being in the shot, reacting to
the action in front of the camera in a way that makes the
camera movement seem deliberate
Focus
puller
-
loads and empties the cartridges (unless there is a 2nd
assistant cameraman)
-
changes the lenses
-
keeps the camera in working order
-
keeps the picture focused when moving the camera
-
fills in the
lab reports (unless there is a 2nd assistant cameraman)
-
marks the places where the actors will stand and takes measurements
between the object and the camera lens
2nd
camera assistant
-
reports to 1st assistant cameraman
-
prepares the camera equipment for the 1st assistant cameraman
-
loads and empties the cartridges
-
fills in the
lab reports
-
uses the clapperboard in the beginning or the end of each
take
Loader
-
helps the 2nd assistant cameraman and loads the cartridges
(when several cameras are used)
