Auteur refers to the notion of the director
being the actual creator of the film. This idea is more than
controversial due to the fact that even the production crew
of a small budget fiction film has dozens of makers.
Film production is a joint operation, so it can be asked, whether
the idea of a 'single creator' is even relevant.
The term can also refer to a director with an easily distinguishable
