A synonym for film editing and (sound) editing. A French word.
- The word 'montage' was also used by Russian filmmakers in
early 1900's for a way of editing, which emphasizes action
as the qualifier directing the editing.
- Today the word montage is generally used to describe a sequence,
where editing is used to economically tell a lengthy series
of events, the real duration of which would be considerably
longer than what is seen in the film.
