The
set designer is a designer who is in charge of the visual
entity of the film together with the director
and the rest of the artistic personnel. Set design means primarily
working with the story, space, form, materials, colors and
lights.
Besides
having artistic and social qualities set designing also requires
knowing the basics of theater, film and television techniques
and production
processes. In practice, the planning is usually done with
sketches, miniatures, different technical and material experiments
and with the help of computer programs.
Besides
designing, the set designer has to supervise the realization
of visual solutions during the production. The set designer
also has to take part in various phases of the project.
