A
binary, numeric way of electrical recording and presentation.
For example, sound is made digital, or digitized so that it
is transformed into a series of 1 and 0. Digitizing is done
by taking 'samples' of the voice at certain intervals. They
are transmitted as separate bits to the receiver or recorded
on a computer to be written out, for example, on a compact
disc.
