The camera is not on a
tripod or propped against any solid mount. Usually the
camera is on the photographer's shoulder, sometimes also in
his lap, and it is usually equipped with special handles for
easier handling.
Hand-held shooting requires special attentiveness from the camera assistant,
as well as a good ability to estimate distances, since the
distance between the camera and the object can not be controlled
as well as when using a tripod.
CINÉMA
VERITÉ preferred hand-held shooting due to its
flexibility. Shooting is done faster without a tripod.
